Timeline for Fall/Spring/Year Study Abroad

Important dates and deadlines for study abroad during Fall 2022/Year 2022-2023 and/or Spring 2023:

Detailed Timeline for Study Away During Fall 2022 or Academic Year 2022-2023

July-

August

Log in to the Study Abroad app in MyWellesley (linked here). Use the "Explore Programs" search feature.

Begin researching programs using theOIS website, Study Abroad App, major department websites andAbroad 101.

Fill out thestudy abroad interest formso that OIS staff can recommend programs that might be a good fit for your goals and interests and offer guidance on the application process. We also recommend viewing ourHow to Choose a Programvideo.

Apply for a passport if you don’t already have one or if yours will expire within 6 months of your proposed time abroad.

September-

November

Use a variety of on-campus resources to continue researching programs:

  • "Study Abroad 102" Info Session (seecalendarfor dates) - ("Study Abroad 101" sessions are available in the spring for first years)
  • Program-, Region-, or Identity-specific panels (seecalendar)*dates are typically set 1-2 months in advance*
  • Major-specific panels (seecalendar)*dates are typically set 1-2 months in advance*
  • OIS Staff (Study Abroad Advisor, Director, Student Intern or Ambassador)
  • Class Deans
  • Faculty Advisors and Instructors
  • Returned students
  • Study Abroad Resources Folder

Review the application requirements for your preferred program and request letters of recommendation if needed.

Complete and submit applications.

Petitionsfor Non-Approved programs and Two Location plans are due on February 1.

March-

May

完成在线健康模块,任命ment with Health Services or your primary care physician if you have not had a physical exam in the past year, and complete health form(s) required by your program. Students who are traveling in countries outside of western Europe are strongly encouraged to book an appointment with the travel clinic at Newton Wellesley. Students who have ongoing health issues or concerns about managing health or medications are asked to make an appointment either with their primary care provider or with a clinician in health services.

Make an appointment with the Stone Center if you have any recent history or ongoing mental health issues.

Attend a "Making Sense of Your Budget and Bills" Info Session (seecalendar) for study abroad or meet with an SFS Counselor. Submit theSFS Clearance Form.CompleteFinancial Responsibility AgreementinWorkday.

Submit theStudy Abroad Agreement.

Complete online Pre-Departure modules.

Review pre-departure materials in theOIS Handbookand attend the OIS Pre-Departure Meeting (seecalendar).
