KeyAccess is the software that allows your computer to use KeyServered licensed software on Wellesley's computer network.
KeyAccessrequires a connection to the Wellesley network; on campus, that means connecting to the Wellesley Secure WiFi; off campus, that meanssetting up our VPN, being connected to vpn.wellesley.edu using Cisco AnyConnect.
Install KeyAccess (K2 Client) on a Mac:
  1. Make sure your computer is connected to Wellesley's network.
    On campus? Connect to the Wellesley Secure WiFi
    Off campus? Connect to vpn.wellesley.edu using Cisco AnyConnect
  2. Downloadthe latest Mac installer directly from the vendor
  3. Make sure yousave anything you are working on; you may have to restart your computer at the end of the installation.
  4. When the download is finished, a K2 Client window may open automatically.
    If it doesn't, find the K2Client icon on your Desktop and double-click to open it,
    or find the download (in Chrome, downloads appear at the bottom of the Chrome window) and select it.
  5. In the Introduction window, clickContinue.
  6. In the Select Destination window, chooseMacintosh HDand clickContinue.
  7. In the Installation Type window, clickInstall.
  8. In the Authenticate window that appears, enter your Administrator user name and password and click OK (for most people, these are the credentials you use to log in to your Mac).
  9. You may be prompted about needing to restart the computer to complete the install; if so, clickContinue
  10. In the K2 Client Install window typekeyserver.wellesley.eduand clickOK.
    If you are not prompted for thisKeyServer Address:
    1. Go toSystem Preferences(in the Apple menu)
    2. Double-click onKeyAccess
    3. Edit the KeyServer Address as needed to saykeyserver.wellesley.edu.
  11. A window will appear asking you to either log out and log back in or to restart your computer
  12. Save your work in any open applications and click on Restart to restart your computer.
  13. Remember to reconnect to the campus network after the restart if you need to use software licensed via the KeyServer.

Install KeyAccess (K2 Client) on a 64-bit Windows PC:

On campus? Connect to the Wellesley Secure WiFi
Off campus? Connect to vpn.wellesley.edu using Cisco AnyConnect

  1. Make sure your computer is connected to Wellesley's network.
  2. Downloadthe latest Windows installer directly from the vendor
  3. Make sure yousave anything you are working on; you may have to restart your computer at the end of the installation.
  4. Allow the file to save to the default location (usually to the Downloads folder or to the desktop).
    Do not move the file once it has downloaded.
  5. Please save in any open applications before continuing.
  6. Double-click onK2Client.exefile to open it.
  7. If you get a Security Warning message, clickRun.
  8. If upgrading your KeyAccess client, you may only see aResuming the Sassafras K2 Client Setup Wizardwindow with anInstalloption. If so, please clickInstall, you will not be prompted for the information in the next step.
  9. If presented with theKeyServer Informationwindow, make sure of the following:
    • Host DNS Name or IP Address:is set toKeyServer.wellesley.edu
    • Protocolis set toTCP/IP
    • Registry, shared by all usersis checked
    • ClickNext.
    • In theCustom Setupwindow, clickNext.
    • In theReady to Installwindows,clickInstall.
  10. In theCompleting the Sassafras K2 Client Setup Wizardwindow, clickFinish.
  11. If you were not prompted for the KeyServer Information, please check it now to be sure it is accurate:
    • In Windows, open the控制Panel
      (You can click on the Start menu and start typing Control Panel, and it should show up as something you can select)
    • Double-click onKeyAccess

    • Click in theKeyServer Addressfield and useControl-Ato Select All
    • PressBackspaceto delete the entire contents of the field, so it is blank
    • Enterkeyserver.wellesley.eduorkeyserver.wellesley.local
    • Save this change (clickLogonorOKorApply)
  12. ClickYesif asked to restart the computer.
  13. Remember to reconnect to the campus network after the restart if you need to use software licensed via the KeyServer.
